What Nobody Is Asking Leaders (But Should Be)
Hey, Bold Soul!
Let me ask you something.
When was the last time a conversation was entirely about you?
Not about your team's performance, your department's goals, or what you need to deliver by end of quarter. About you! Your patterns, your wiring, how you handle conflict when things get difficult, how you show up when the pressure is on, what's working and what's draining you.
If you're struggling to answer that, you're not alone! Most leaders are.
And here's what I've noticed after doing this work for years - the gap most leaders are dealing with is actually a clarity gap, it has little to do with skills. They're performing, delivering, and holding it together, but underneath all of that they're carrying questions they haven't had space to consider. Questions about why certain relationships feel like friction, or why the same conflict keeps showing up in different environments. About whether the way they're leading is actually aligned with who they are.
That's the work nobody is assigning. And it might be the most important work there is.
The value of an outside perspective
One of the things I hear most consistently from leaders I work with is how refreshing it is to talk to someone who has no stake in their performance review, no history with their team, and no internal agenda. Just someone who knows how to ask the right questions and actually wait for a real answer.
Honest conversations are hard to come by when you're in a leadership role. You can't always tell your manager the full truth, vulnerability with peers carries risk, and bringing the hard stuff home has its limits too. So where does it go? Most of the time it gets managed, pushed down, and shows up awkwardly later in ways that cost you energy, relationships, and momentum. Big huge energy leak!
That's exactly the space my Personal Impact Coaching experience is designed to create.
What the experience actually looks like
We start with two powerful assessments - your Myers-Briggs Personal Impact Report and your TKI Conflict Style Report. These give us a real foundation to work from, not a generic personality snapshot, but a nuanced picture of how you're wired and how you tend to navigate tension and conflict. Then we spend 90 minutes together in a 1:1 coaching session that goes wherever you need it to go. Then you take some time to integrate what you learned and we get back together once more for 45 minutes to talk through what you're navigating.
No script. No cookie-cutter debrief. Just a real conversation built around your results, your challenges, and where you want to grow.
My clients have described it as clarifying, eye-opening, and - my personal favorite - "therapy for life and work."
And then something interesting happens
Several leaders, after their personal sessions, have asked some version of the same question: "What would it look like to do this with my whole team?"
That question makes complete sense to me. Personal clarity ripples outward. A leader who understands their own conflict patterns starts showing up differently in team meetings. A leader who recognizes their own wiring stops accidentally projecting it onto everyone else. A leader who finally feels seen starts creating space for their people to feel seen too.
That's the bridge between individual coaching and team effectiveness, and it's one my clients naturally want to cross once they've had the personal experience. My Human-Centered Team Effectiveness workshops take that same foundation - understanding how people are wired, where friction comes from, and what it looks like to lead with more intentionality - and work through it together as a team. The result is a group of people who don't just communicate better on paper, but actually trust each other enough to do the hard work together.
